More than gender and race diversify a group of people who embarked on a new yearlong program Sunday that aims to better Little Rock and its surrounding communities.

“Last year, a group of people saw that we had a lot of young and some established entrepreneurs who were coming into the food truck business,” said Rhonna Wade, board member of AABP. “We wanted to show the power of black entrepreneurship in the state. There ended up being a lot of black food truck owners in the state.”

“I am America too because my family came to America looking for the same opportunities others' families did. I know I am more than capable and able to contribute to the bettering of the society as a whole and I cannot not let those who are afraid of change stop me.”

Elizabeth Rhonna Akama-Makia is the recipient of The Raney Hall Award which is presented to the Raney woman who best exemplifies loyalty, enthusiasm, and friendship.

The 48-member Hendrix College Choir will present its 42nd season of Candlelight Carol performances beginning Thursday, Nov. 30, in Greene Chapel on the Hendrix campus.

Evening performances in the chapel will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30; Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2. A matinee performance will occur at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. All performances are free, but reservations are required for campus performances because seating is limited.
