Rutledge exits governor's race to run for lieutenant governor, leaving Sanders as lone Republican

Jones was the top fundraiser among the Democrats, raising more than $1 million for his campaign, according to campaign finance reports.

Jones' campaign manager Rhonna-Rose Akama-Makia said in a statement that "voters now have a clear choice."

"We would love a healthy exchange of ideas but Sarah Sanders had made it clear that she is more focused on division and doing what's best for the connected few and her national reputation, and that's the truth," she said. "We have pressing challenges here in our state and being Governor is a job that has an immediate direct impact on people's lives. Arkansans need someone they can trust in office."

Local chefs rolled up their sleeves for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's annual culinary fundraising event, Taste of the Finest. Guests enjoyed specialties from some of the city’s finest dining establishments and breweries, a silent auction and live music from Mayday by Midnight. The evening honored 30 up-and-comers in the Little Rock area for their success in business, community involvement and support of CFF.

PopUp event spotlights southwest Little Rock

The annual event spotlights areas of the city that organizers believe are underdeveloped and could benefit from what Create Little Rock chair Rhonna Wade calls "strategic investment." Past areas targeted by the campaign include Stifft Station in Little Rock and Argenta in North Little Rock. Wade said the pop-up is intended to inspire development such as the opening of Stone's Throw brewery's new location in Stifft Station in May.

Taste of the Finest benefits Cystic Fibrosis

Taste of the Finest is a fundraiser to bring awareness to cystic fibrosis and how it affects those who have it. The event is August 16 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. at the Statehouse Convention Center in the Wally Allen Ballroom. Attendees have the opportunity to eat from some of the finest local restaurants and breweries, participate in a silent auction, and listen to a live concert by Mayday by Midnight.

Cashe Restaurant is one of the restaurants involved in the event. Chef Tim Morton makes beef tenderloin with whipped potatoes for What's for Dinner.
